From Tricia Bond:
There are still rooms available at the Inn of the Hills for the GP Meeting. But, if they ask for a CASI room, they will be told there are none available. That just means the block is full and the discounted room is not available. They will need to ask for a room at regular rate. If anyone has problems, just let me know.

Here is the Agenda for the Great Pepper's Meeting on Saturday September 10, 2011 in Kerrville.

Here is also the draft of the Schedule of Events. At this time I do not have the location. This will be added later.  Please note the we will be having a Monitor's class.  Diane FitzHenry will be leading that.  We will have a session to discuss the proposed Rule Changes.  This will b followed by an informal Round Table discussion with the Board of Directors.  This will give you time to voice your concerns as well as suggest changes.  It will also give the Board of Directors time to share what their job entails.  As our society gets more technical, our jobs have changes.

From Jim Ezell:
I got the following email:
August 25, 2011 From Dave FrickerCurrent Rainfall Report

Hello Jim Ezell,

About 10 days ago we were in Alpine and actually
got our shoes muddy along side the Alco parking lot.
The highway 118 corridor to Alpine has received varying
amounts of rainfall. Study Butte has received a bit over
an inch in the past 30 days ... depending where you
are located. Unfortunately at your house and our house
we have received only 1/4 inch of rain .... since August
of 2010.

Going west, there was some rainfall in Lajitas during
the past 30 days, enough to 'Green up' the ocotillos.
About 4 miles east of Lajitas the rainfall ended.
Casi appears to be bone dry as are we. They had isolated
showers in today's forecast but took them out of the forecast.
I hope we get some rain for the Cook-off!

August 26, 2011
Well Jim ..... I knew sending this email to you about rainfall would bring some rain! Sure enough, yesterday Aug 25th we drove to eat at the Basin restaurant and watched the rain form over Terlingua .... not much but between 1/4 and 1/2
inch at our houses.

Later, Dave Fricker

It is Friday and for us here in West Texas, it will be day 88 with temperatures of 100+ and there is not a change in sight.  We are to have Temperatures above 105 on a couple of the next 7 days.  Here's hoping that if your not cooking chili, you can stay cool.

NOTE:  If you are looking for a CCO to attend this weekend and hope to get those last points, remember that this weekend is the CCO in Joplin, MO.  Boomtown Days Festival Cookoff will be located in Landrith Park within the City of Joplin. Turn-in is 2 PM. Chili Grind Only. It benefits reparation of the town of Joplin. For more information contact Jon Tupper at 417-781-6713 or 417-439-8606

May the Chili God Chiligula Bless Your Day!

From Ralph Hay:
To All Old 320 Members –

Time is drawing close for our yearly departure to the Ranch. I would like to touch base with each of you on a couple of matters as follows:

· If you will not be using your Cooking Site in the Old 320 Area, and willing to let someone else cook on it, please let me know. OR, if you have given someone permission to use your Site, I need to know either way. We have a lot of new qualified Cooks that are coming to Terlingua and they would like to cook in the Old 320 Area.

· ALSO, All Pods that have an Old 320 Site, I need to know who the POD MEMBER is that is cooking on the Pod’s Site.

· We are still taking Orders from Pods for The Wall Plaque. The cost of the Plaque is $200.00 and it dresses up the Wall to the North side of the Old 320 Area. I will have forms available at the Great Peppers Meeting; if you want, you can call me and I will mail you one.

Thank you all, may everyone have a safe trip to the Ranch, can’t wait to see you.

From Tony Gamez, MCFA Event Coordinator:

I would like to make a small change to our schedule of October 15th Mansfield Cook-off.
We are leaving the $25. entry fee but we want to delete the $40. late fee. Also we will make an earlier turn-in time. It will be 1:30 pm
It will show like this.
