From Clyde Rogers:
We had some wind, we had some cold temperatures, but most of all I hope we all had fun. I would like to say thank you to all that came to the 2012 Texas Open Chili Championship in San Antonio.
Congratulations to all the Texas Open winners on Saturday as well as the winners Sunday at the Day After cook off. We had 197 chili Saturday and 67 chili on Sunday. Ricky Mitch took top honors Saturday, way to go Ricky.
I wish I could list all the names of cooks and non-cooks that helped, not sure Janice has the room. The committee members stepped up and really did a great job, as well as did a number of cooks, my hat goes off to all of you.
I would like to also say thanks to our trophy sponsors, chair sponsors, and sponsors of Friends of the Texas Open. It is with your help that enables us to present the funds raised from the cook off to the Wounded Warriors Family Support Center. Thanks to all of you. I hope all had a safe trip home.
My e-mail is always open to suggestions or comments. One comment I have heard has been taken care of. Next year all rounds will be posted for cooks to see where they advanced.
Again thanks to all and God Bless.

Clyde

Hope everybody had a great President's holiday.  We had company and had a great visit with family.

From Barbara Herrin:
Just to let everybody know that the contributions to the Scholarship Fund for the Texas Ladies State campaign has already reached more than $2200.00.  This is still happening and it is to be donated by March 1, 2012.

A big Thanks to Connie Collier and Carolyn Seelig for heading up this campaign.  It has been really successful and will allow for more scholarships to be awarded.

The Scholarship Applications are in and are in the process of getting ready for the Scholarship Committee to review.  This year there were 95 applicants for the Academic Scholarship and 6 for the Trade School Scholarships.

Here is a copy of the form for donations to Ladies State.

From Ken Rodd:

In the past several days I have received emails that have been sent with numerous people on the address line talking about a change in Military Funerals where Obama had it changed. I checked this out and it IS NOT TRUE - THIS has been going around since last October. While I am no fan of Obama, I feel sending something like this around certainly does not do our military families any good or veterans families either.

A little information about the Texas Open. Traders` Village has informed me RV`s can start arriving Thur morning. For all the cooks that were there last year we cooked under the BLUE pavilion which was straight as you came through the pay booths. This year we are cooking under the BROWN pavilion. It is to the left of the BLUE pavilion. You will turn left after you pass the pay booths, drive to the end of the pavilions and turn right. There will be signs to show the way. Grab your gear, load the RV, and head to Traders` Village in San Antonio, and YOU may be the 2012 Texas Open Chili Champion. Have a safe trip.
