We are finally home from the Texas Open.  There 197 cooks on Saturday and 67 on Sunday.  At least I made 16 on Sunday! I didn't come away with points, but did have a good time visiting with all of you!

Ricky Mitch was the Texas Open Champion.  He is a new cook and this was his first open.  He had only cooked 5 times.  Way to go Ricky!  Below is his picture courtesy of Larry Walton.

A special thanks to VFW Post # 846, Overland Park, KS, for your service to our country, and your warm hospitality.

And to our judges, we thank you one and all.

Your love of chili, charity, and fun make it all possible, and you are greatly appreciated.
From Ron Barnes:
Attention chili and bean cooks! The March 3rd Irving Elk's Lodge Chili Cookoff WILL have a bean competition. Entry fee is $5, turn-in is Noon and it is 100% payback. We will also have an Elk's division (for bragging rights) that is free to enter if you are an active Elk and are cooking in the CASI division. Entry is $15 if you are not cooking CASI. Thanks and hope to see you there!
