From Lisa Brown:
The first REGIONAL Horn Toad CCO and Roundup is over and I am happy to say that it was a HUGE success!   All the little toads got safely to Rankin.  We want to say a big "THANK YOU" to all of those who came out and worked to help us put on this event and to all of those who came out to judge chili.  We could not have Chili CookOffs without you judges.

It was a nice winter day in Ranking, a little cloudy and cool, but we had 109 die hard chili cooks sign up to cook in this event.  We had cooks from Pasadena, Texas to Anthony, New Mexico come out and cook for a chance to win the coveted Horn Toad.  Not quite sure what happened to 3 of our cooks, but we had 106 cups of nice, red, CASI chili turned in to Boomer Kingston and his helpers for our troop of around 105 chili judges to taste and score.  When all of the tasting, judging and tallying was complete, here's the final results:

1- Deanna Castillo, Terlingua (AQ)
2- Bucky Seelig, Fredericksburg (AQ)
3- David Lefler, Bardwell (AQ)
4- Dee Hay, Pasadena
