I am making a correction to Dale Reinecker's Information. I appologize that I somehow did not get in right the First time.

This is a second post for the day. As I was reviewing my emails I found that I had left out an important piece of news. There will be a Pod Newsletter Contest this year.
Here is the information concerning that Contest.

It's Friday!! Time to decide where to cook this weekend. We are taking a weekend off!

From Tonya Jester:

Ladies that are attending the Illinois Ladies State Open Championship CCO! We will be doing a Rosebud toast so please bring your bottle of Tequila Rose.

NOTE:

On the Annual Report a change needs to be made to VI A. It should read 2008/2009 instead of 2007/2008. Great peppers, please make that change.

I have good response from the Great Peppers and it appears that more than half will use the electronic version and download it and send it back either electronically or by mail. This will save CASI a great deal of money. Thanks for the quick response from everybody.

From Ken Rodd:
Check out the new section of the CASI WEB SITE on the home page called "POD WEB SITES" - look to see if your POD web site is listed - if not send me the link so we can post it.

I have received the first application for the Special Election. It is from Dale Reinecker from the Cowtown Pod. He was great Pepper for the Cowtown Pod in 2006 and 2007. I am including his information.

Here's hoping everybody has a Great Weekend and that the Chili Gods are kind to each one of you.

Thursday, May 28, 2009

NOTE: I have emailed the Great Pepper's the Annual Pod Report and Great Pepper's Meeting Credential Materials. These also can be found on the CASI web site in the Resource Center under "Official Organizational Documents." The title is "Great Pepper's Meeting - Pod Credentials and Annual Report." This is an effort to reduce the mailing cost of these materials. I have requested a response from each Great Pepper as to whether they will use the electronic documents or if they request a copy be mailed to them. If I do not get a response by June 1, I will mail these materials to those Great Peppers and to those who have requested the documents by mail.

POSTER CONTEST
The Poster Contest has a deadline of June 20. Here are the rules for it:

Poster Rules and Guidelines
CASI is looking for a unique, creative design that embodies the essence of TICC and CASI.Artwork must be original and should include bold colors. The dimensions of the two posters will be 18" X 24" and 11" X 17".Submissions do not need to be that size, but they must maintain that proportion. The 11" x 17" poster is an informational poster.

Copies of last years posters will be made available in PDF format upon request. These posters may be used as a guideline for some of the content required in the design.

Winning designs may also be used for souvenir TICC shirts. All entries should include in the title, “43 Annual Terlingua International Chili Championship”, and the date, “November 7, 2009."

It must also list the names of the current Board members and include the CASI logo. Designs may be sent electronically in a standard graphic format (PDF or JPG) or may be a hard copy, suitable for scanning.Pictures of last year’s winners and sponsor logos will be made available and must be added to the poster design before printing.

Changes to the wording and design may be requested by the Board. If selected, the artwork becomes the sole property of CASI and the Terlingua International Chili Championship and may or may not be used in any manner CASI desires.

The winning designer will receive credit with their name included on the final product.Submission deadline will be June 20th. Entries must be sent to Janice Miller, 3014 Oak Mountain Trail, San Angelo, TX 76904 or garjans@suddenlink.net.

That's all the news I have for today. Have a Great day.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

GREAT PEPPERS: If you will accept the email version of the annual report, please email me that confirmation by June 1. It will save CASI money because we will not have the expense of copying the report, the envelopes, and the stamps. Thank you to all of you who have responded.

From Lorrinda Crawford:

WOW… The Weekend is over… 2 Chili Cook Off’s now in the History Books!

Thank You to everyone who came out to support our Cookoffs! The weekend was a GREAT SUCCESS! We had a record number of cooks and a good turn out of spectators and tasters. Our very dear friends for Ft Smith, Guy & Erma came over earyly to help us get everything together! Mark & Melissa brought over 2 Motorhomes to provide extra beds for all our Guest. Thanks to all our Friends from Arkansas and Kansas that made the trip over to party with us for the weekend. WHO BTW … KICKED OUR BUTTS IN CHILI!

As all Memorial Weekends would have it, we had a couple of short rain stroms ... but it didn't spoil any of our fun.

We had a surprise entertainment show from the Hula Dancers. HUMMMM Yea that was “SPECIAL” There are pictures all over the Facebook. Search for Green Country Chiil. Above are a couple of samples. And what cookoff would be complete with out the “PANTY POLE”? Thanks for that Steve G ! As well as the Midnight ‘+’ Hot Tub Hoppers….. They went from the Neighbors Hot Tub (Jami & Aaron's) to our's blowing circuits on both. EEWWWWW not sure what else they had going, but when we drained ours and it was quite nasty….. Evertt had to scrup the walls, sanitize it, and fill with clean water. Oh Yea, I Can't forget that sometime during that midnight ‘+’ escapade the toliet lid got broken, twice. All I know is when I saw it the next day, the lid was smaller than the toilet. I asked “NO” questions. They all did manage to cook both days.... Don't know how! Our special guest entertaines "Rusty & JIm" put on a really good evening show Saturday Night. They picked and sang through the rain showers. Everyone enhoyed the music.

Thursday, May 21, 2009

From Kim Hiley:

It’s time once again for all chili cooks to make their way to El Mercado Market in downtown San Antonio. If you get there early enough you can drive up to the cook site to unload and then you’ll move and park the car close by. To load up we haul everything to the street and bring the cars back around. This cook-off is unique in that we line up the EZ-Ups and all join together to cook. Those that don’t want to bring their EZ-Ups are welcome to cook under someone else’s. We have been asked to please hand out samples to the public this year. This was a last minute request, so if anyone has freezer chili that they want to get rid of this would be an excellent time to do so. I’ll bring some coffee cans for sample donations since this is to benefit the Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital. Any questions please feel free to call or email. My phone # is 210-286-4275 and email kdhiley@yahoo.com.

Woman Fights Off Intruders With Chili

TAZEWELL, Tenn. (May 18) - Up in Tazewell, Wanda Bray slings a mean bowl of chili. Quite literally.
Claiborne County Sheriff's Capt. David Honeycutt said Bray was confronted by men who broke into her home Tuesday night and she fought back by throwing what was described as "household objects" at them, including a bowl of homemade chili. Then, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel, the 58-year-old Bray went after the intruders with a broom. They fled. Police later arrested three men and charged them with the home invasion robbery and with a recent convenience store holdup. Honeycutt said the intruders demanded drugs from Bray and probably got away with a bottle of blood pressure pills.

From Stephanie Brockman:

For those of you who haven't heard, we plan on having a little fun this Sunday at the Morning After TOT Cookoff at the Irving Elks Lodge.

For those who want to participate, we're having a "Blind Recipe Swap". This will go on along with our regular cookoff, and is open to anyone who wants to participate.

Here's how it will work: Bring your already mixed dumps in ziploc baggies labeled with only "Dump #1, Dump #2" etc. No names, comments or instructions. Then we'll put them in brown bags and number them. You'll draw a number, and you'll cook your chili using those spices.

At announcements, we'll disclose who cooked whose recipe!

If you plan to participate, you MUST register and turn in your dumps before 9AM on Sunday. That is when we'll draw for numbers! Hope to see you all this weekend at the 30th Annual TOT Pod Cookoff!!!!

From Dave Hewitt:

The Greenville, TX CCO has been canceled and will be rescheduled for later in the year. Please pass the word.

If you did send something and it is not posted, please send it again and I will make a second post today. Thanks
