From Larry Velequez:
Following the ever annoying trend of another chili cooking day in the rain, the 1st annual Rawhide Rustle which took place in Olathe, Kansas saw Lee Kroencke win another cook off. Again proving that chili is growing in Kansas.  This was our 8th CASI cook off in this calendar year with 6 more scheduled to take place. Cecila Rivera and Cindy Stovall won 2 pair of tickets in our raffle to the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert which takes place this Tuesday. Erwin Clark won the 50/50 cooks pot and promptly donated it back to the charity (MDA). A special thanks to Harold Distler from the Central HOG chapter for coordinating this wonderful event and to Rawhide Harley Davidson.

A HOT event with a bit of a CHILL

WAUWATOSA, WI –East Tosa is opening North Avenue for Chili’n on the Avenue, a sanctioned chili cook-off event by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI).  This inaugural event will take place on Saturday July 24 from 11am-5pm. Chili’n will bring music, vendors, a specialty kids area and, of course, chili to North Avenue in East Tosa.

There are three categories under which entries can be made: A CASI registrant, which qualifies you for the Teringua Championship, or the East Tosa Open and Salsa.  Chili’n on the Avenue, presented by the North Avenue Neighborhood Alliance and Chillini Pod, will feature the best chili cooks in the upper Midwest - all competing for the prize of ‘Best Chili in Tosa’. The CASI winner will qualify for a chance to compete in the Terlingua International Chili Championship. Prizes and bragging rights go to the winners in each category.

Do YOU have the best chili recipe in SE Wisconsin? Want to compete with the big boys?

Here’s your chance! Some entries are limited, so early pre-registration is recommended. Visit http://easttosa.org/ for more information and to register!

Chili’n is made possible with the support of the Lutheran Home, located at 76th and North Avenue in Wauwatosa and media sponsors, 88Nine and OnMilwaukee.
