My son Buzz is now back at home, after his stay at the Citizens hospital at Victoria, and the Memorial hospital at Houston. "I want to thank you for your prayers and support."

Buzz was released from the hospital and allowed to return home, since he had been given the maximum dosage of medications for the MS, as additional medication could have lead to lowering his immune system. Buzz has regained some feeling in his feet and legs, and is now able to walk with the aid of a walker; also, he is able to lift his right arm, and hold objects with his right thumb and index finger.

My family and I are grateful for his recovery to this point, and are preying that the good Lord will help him to continue. The last attack about 5-years prior, he lost his eyesight but later recovered to where he had some vision; however, it was only in dark and light shades, and without color! Over time, he slowly recovered to the point when he had normal color vision, and we are in hopes that he will continue to recover once again?

Again, thank you for your prayers and support.

From Roger Foltz:
What a great day at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie! A great venue for a chili cookoff, nice weather, and the cooks were really treated well by Kim Bordano and her staff. There was a race named in honor of Chili Appreciation Society International, Inc. and the top ten chili winners and top three show winners got their photo taken with the winning horse and jockey. The track will mail prints to all the winners this week. Lone Star Park was very happy with this first cookoff, and plans to grow it into a larger event next year.

Special thanks to Darrell and Beth Baxter, Babs Johnson, Stephanie Brockman, & Neta Rohr for their help, and to all that brought extra chili for the crowd. They sold 150 tasting cups! No wonder cooks were running out of chili.

It is time for you to make your final plans for this next weekend and the Kansas State Open Chili Championship on Saturday and Gladiator POD Cook-Off on Sunday held at the VFW in Overland Park, KS.

Steve Shepherd has indicated that he plans to defend his title, and there are people coming a great distance to participate in this exciting two day event.

There is no need to pre-register for the cook-off. There is a $20 fee for chili registration, and if you cook in both divisions (CASI and Home Style) the fee is $30. If you plan to arrive Friday evening to set up, check in with Larry Velasquez, Regional Referee, or Shelley Kroencke, Gladiator Secretary and Treasurer. One of them will be available after 4PM at the VFW Post #846, located at 8804 Grant Street, Overland Park, KS.

The public is invited to attend Saturday so we ask that you make additional chili beyond your customary amount – we suggest that you make at least a double quantity. Keep in mind that the monies raised from selling tasting kits will go to the VFW charities.

The VFW is serving breakfast Saturday Morning for $5 at 7:00AM – all you can eat buffet, they do it right! Again on Saturday morning be sure to check in with Larry or Shelley. They will be available after 8:00 AM.

Many of you plan to enter Home-Style. The VFW has tables and electrical outlets for your crock pots. Please plan to bring extension cords and ladles to serve your chili.

Cooks party Saturday night for those spending the night. Pot luck and music.

Also we still need a few more judges. Please contact Shelley Kroencke at gladiatorchili@yahoo.com  if you plan to judgeor know somebody who would like to Judge.

I can already detect the smell of chili in the air, and soon we know who the 2010 Kansas State Champion is…will it be you?
