From Bucky Seelig;

ATTENTION OLD 320 MEMBERS

You have received a ballot in the mail asking for your vote to approve or disapprove a motion made and seconded at the Old 320 meeting held at TICC this past November petitioning the CASI Board of Directors to buy back Old 320 shares for $200.00. This motion was made by Bruce Stewart. Unfortunately, there was little discussion on the motion since a quorum was not present and more time was spent discussing the lack of a quorum than the motion.

It is Bruce’s intention for CASI to buy back shares for $200.00 from current shareholders and resell them to people the Alcalde currently has on the waiting list. I don’t understand the logic behind this motion. Currently, if an Old 320 share has been returned to CASI, the Board has resold them to new members for $200.00. The current shareholder retains all rights and privileges and the new shareholder is granted the same rights and privileges, but CASI has now received a total of $400.00 for this share. Under this proposal, CASI would pay $200 to repurchase a share and then resell it for $200.00. How will this benefit CASI? All this will do is eliminate the waiting list and give the new member, spouse or significant other, the privilege of attending TICC without paying entrance fees to the event if they are not qualified to cook or show. Given last year’s entry fee of $30, a new member will recoup their investment within four years and CASI is left holding the bag. This was not the original intent of an Old 320 membership.

Having served on the Board, I know that each year the Board struggles with the financial burden of putting on the TICC event. Every year there are increases in the cost of porta-potties, trash and security. Every person paying at the gate helps defray these costs which allow the cooks, show teams and Old 320 members to camp for free. This motion would only take revenue away from the event with CASI realizing nothing for the exchange.

I urge you to vote against this motion. If you have already voted for it and sent your ballot to Ralph, please call him and change your vote for the long term good of CASI and TICC.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
