Sorry that there was not a Friday Post.  The Blog server was down and it did not come up until after we had left for the weekend.

From Mavis Nelson:
If you are coming to the salado cook-off going north or south on 1-35 take exit 285.  This puts you on Main Street. Go thru town, then cross the creek.  Turn left on Royal Street. Go to the old Salado Spring.  There will be sign showing you where to turn. There Chamber Commerce (sponsor) office's telephone number is 254-947-5933. If you would like to stay all weekend, they have a bed and breatfast. Just give them a call. The town has had trouble since the flood, but are looking folward to meeting you all.  My phone number is 254-715-4075. My email address has changed to chili8@live.com.  We are having a pot luck dinner of Saturday night, so bring something to share.  If you need more information about this cookoff or other activities in the area, please contact the Chamber Of Commerce.

From Travis Tonzi:
This is a first time CCO sponsored by some great CASI supporters. Ruth Klaver was a CASI sponsor  in Texas, and has recently moved to Arizona. We would really like to support this CCO.  Mark you calendars and plan to come up and cook at this CCO. Remember how nice and cool it is in Payson.

There were 25 chilli's judged, and all three of the top finalist who qualified for Terlingua 2011,have never been to TICC before! They are headed there this year. Tremendous competition with relaxing fun for this two day chili weekend in Kansas City. Jeff Gadt loves his Wendell Rankin Stove!

Then on Sunday, May 15, the Gladiator Pod Cook-off results:
1. Colleen Lintner, Shawnee, KS
2. Kevin Stovall, Lee's Summit, MO
3. Peggy Kirk Velasquesz, Kansas City, KS
4. Larry Velasquez, Mission, KS
5. Cecilia Rivera, Lenexa, KS
6. Peg Velasquez, Mission, KS
7. Jerri Dowdy, Kansas City, MO
8. Julie Wiedner, Windsor, MO
9.  Steve Stewart, Wichita, KS
10. Cindy Stovall, Lee's Summit, MO

Only 14 points separated 17 chili's judged in this fierce battle for Gladiator supremacy, and Collen Lintner, who had limped in with 11th place "Kiss you Sister" on Saturday walked away this time with the second Wendall Rankin Stove of the weekend. Outstanding!

Special thanks to everyone who contributed time, energy, food, and supplies for the pot luck dinner, and to all the VFW Post #846 members for the excellent breakfast and being such wonderful hosts.

Congratulations Jeff Gadt, 2011 Kansas State Open Champion, and Colleen Lintner, 2011 Gladiator Chili Pod Champion!
