From Jim Ezell:

I would like to encourage everyone to take a look at the Mexene Website.(
www.mexine.com ). They have a section devoted to CASI and a photo gallery from Terlingua. There are also great facts and definitions of various peppers and chili terms. It is very kind of this great sponsor to devote this attention to our organization. Be sure to thank them every chance you get.

Best Wishes

From Barbara Herrin, Scholarship Program Chairman:

HELP – Lost Students

I have several scholarship recipients that appear to be lost. If you have any information about these people, please let me know. I have been trying to contact all of the scholarship recipients to ascertain whether or not they are still in school. I have no addresses, phone numbers, or parent names for the following:

Year Scholarship Granted/Name

2001 Ben Kinnison
2003 Jennifer Lee
2004 Kelsey Westerman
2005 Charles McAdams
2005 Megan Sisney
2006 Sabrina Parales
2008 Jerad Christensen

If I cannot make contact with these students by Sept. 1, 2009, I will assume that they are no longer in school and will not be using their scholarship awards. Therefore, the monies can be unencumbered and returned to the Scholarship Fund.

The following August CCOs are on Advertising Probation:

08/15/2009-007 Spring Creek-Victoria, TX
08/22/2009-006 1st Annual Canton Paw Park-Canton GA
08/30/2009-001 2nd Annual St Mary of Gostyn-Downers Grove IL

Please remember that you are to submit your CCO early enough that it will appear in the Terlingua Trails a full 30 days before the date of your CCO. This means that the above CCOs should have been submitted before June 15 so that they would have been advertised in the July Terlingua Trails.

Minutes from the June Board of Director's Meeting have been emailed to each Great Pepper. They will be posted on CIS in the History Section.

One of the actions taken during this Bof D meeting is a change to the application for a CCO. If you submit a request electronically, you will note that the default for the request for Terlingua Trails and Cup Tickets is now 0.

Bucky Seelig reported that parcel post costs, the cost associated with mailing boxes of Terlingua Trails to various cookoffs and people, have increased by about 20% from November to June. The average cost of a box of Terlingua Trails including printing, boxes and postage is about $10 per box. It was noted that if a cookoff asked for 2 boxes, our cost is $20 out of the $25 fee per cookoff that comes to CASI.
