To all Rose City Pod members, ED's Reflections & Chili Hot News:

Henderson County has issued a burn ban with NO OUTDOOR BURNING OF ANY KIND. However, the City of Chandler has issued a special permit for the Chandler Pow Wow/Chili Cookoff on October 8th only. All food vendors or chili cooks cooking with any kind of open flame must have a fire extinguisher in their booth or cooking area in order to participate. Our local Fire Department will also be on site.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.

From Blu Daniels:
Rose City Pod will be putting together goody bags for all the Terlingua School kids. We love our cookoff goody bags that the cooks get, but we also all realize that a lot of that stuff is taking up space and we really don't "need" it. We love pens, pencils, caps (No Alcohol names) koozies, pads of paper, post it notes, CD holders, bandannas, and shampoo, conditioner, body lotions and soaps from hotels if you do not already give them to someone in your area. Bring to Terlingua or see if a fellow Pod member can toss it on top and get it to Big John and Blu Daniels in the white bus at Terlingua. Kubota Tractor is providing the bags, we need all the hand sanitizers, lip balms and anything else you want to pass on. We give them the sacks on Friday morning after the Flag Raising, dancers and band performances. Please have all your stuff to me by Thursday noon as it takes quite awhile to get them all stuffed and we thank you very much.
Great Peppers, please pass this on to your Pod members so they can bring anything to you or Terlingua Bound cooks at your October meetings.

From Marilyn (Mayo) Blair:
It's almost time.  Mark this in your datebook and plan to attend.
From Kelly Brignon:
Mild Bill’s Spice Company, Inc. will be hosting a Grand Opening Celebration Sunday October 2nd from 3-5 pm. Please visit our new location at 113 W. Knox Street in Downtown Ennis. Hope to see everyone there!

Thank you both and have a good day,

From Robert (Wappo) Schrade:
HELP AGAIN PLEASE for any of you that can.  I need some help after TICC with various jobs needed to be done at the ranch. I will get with John and put out a list of things that need to be done and if you could help me out, I will owe you all some cold refreshments.  Be assured when I see ya I will pay off. I am sorry I will be unable to be there, but by the time TICC happens I will be about 4 weeks post surgery and probably be going up the walls lol. Good luck to all of you and safe trip to and from. Also if you can help me out let either myself or John Goforth know.

These duties include, but are not limited to, removing all sponsor signage from the Mexene and Ancira pavilions, as well as the stage area.   Ensure proper storage of those items.  Removing neon's and sponsor signage posted around the grounds and return and properly stored; removal and proper storage of all festoons placed around the grounds; removing and storage of all warning, rules and regulatory signs; taking down the radio relay antenna and getting it back along with the radios to the proper person; policing the grounds to encourage spectators to remove restricted items as well as getting them to properly dispose of as much trash as possible; overseeing the trash pickup by those whom CASI has hired; contacting the trash disposal firm when a possible pickup on Monday can be done; payment to those hired by CASI when trash pickup is completed; making sure that the storage buildings are in an orderly state and all buildings are secure. In a nutshell, this is making sure the ranch is returned to the state it was prior to our event and requires someone remaining until early Monday afternoon, if not later.

Thanks for all you do

NOTE:   Cliff and I are leaving on a plane this morning at 6:00 AM for Dayton, Ohio to attend his Nuclear Weapons Technician's Convention and Reunion.  Cliff is Vice President of this organization.  We will return on Sunday.  I can be reached on my Cell phone (325 650 1854) and I will have email available.  There will be odd times for me to read and respond.

It is hard to pack for this since we will need coats when we get to Ohio and today is was 104 here.  It was our 100th day this year of over 100.  We have had 37 days of temperatures over 105 this year, with August being the hottest.
