Well, the last weekend of the 2008-2009 CASI Chili year has come and gone. There are only 2 CCOs left on Wed. They are in Garland, TX and Dickinson, TX.

We had a successful weekend in Hobbs, NM. A big thanks to Paul and Kathy Mulkey for hosting this event. On Sat, there were approx 6000 people wondering in and out of the United Way's Campaign which included a BBQ, CCO, Craft Show and entertainment. Even Elvis showed up.

Here is the plan for the Caravan to Terlingua from Dallas area.


Meet 10 am Thursday morning Oct 29th at exit 418 off of I 20 (just past Cowtown RV park on south side of I 20). There will be a shopping center parking lot on right as soon as you exit. You can pull in and park.
Leave there and we will make next stop at the Flying J in Tye TX. We can refuel and eat lunch there.
From there to a Rest Park near Westbrook. Here we can pee, shoot Tequila and pickle juice.
On to Big Spring. Spend night at the Texas RV park. 4100 south 87. (1-800-749-4898). www. txrvpark.com. There are several filling stations where we turn on 87 also a Lubys,Wal-mart and a USA Murphy
Leave there for Crane ,TX. Cook chili Friday evening Oct 30th. Turn-in 4pm. Cook chili Saturday Oct 31. Turn-in 12 noon. Get out asap and head to Alpine,TX. Refuel on the way to Lost Alaskan RV park. (1-800-837-3604)

Spend Saturday night 31st. Eat, shoot Tequila and pickle juice. We can get last minute supplies at Alpine.
Leave Sunday morning Nov.1st at Daylight for American legion post 60 miles south on hiway 118. Cook chili. Turn-in 12 noon. From there to CASI site.

The Rose City Chili Pod will be holding their monthly meeting at Daniel Boone Restaurant & Tavern in the Albertson's Shopping Center, Tyler on Thursday, October 1 at 6:30. Installation of officers and regular business will be conducted. New officers for the coming year will be John Daniels, Great Pepper; John Chance, Pepper Popper; Jennifer Cook, Chili Scribe; Sheila Austin, Henny Penny (treasurer) and Blu Monday-Daniels, Chilicity. Rose City Chili Pod membership is open to anyone who has an interest in cooking chili for charity, fun and fellowship. Dues are $5 annually. Rose City Chili Pod is associated with Chili Appreciation Society International. The 29th annual Rose City Chili Cookoff will be held on the first Saturday in March 2010.
