PALOS PARK IL—The 2009 Chili Year came to an end last Saturday at a new CASI cookoff in Palos Park. This was the first year that CASI was invited to participate in this event, and it was a well-received invitation. They had a beautiful venue, and the weather cooperated perfectly. We were advised that there would be a large crowd and, boy, were they right. We had plenty of throw-down and they when through it like a swarm of locust. Finding a new cookoff like this one looks like this one is like finding money in your pocket. Often, the end of year cookoffs have difficulty getting 15 cooks, but twenty cooks turned out which was very gratifying. No one wanted to enter showmanship, they were having too much fun cooking and partying. The winners:
