From Barbara Herrin:

Scholarship Recipient Reminder

It is now June and the end of the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters.  Please remember that scholarship recipients will need to send me a copy of your grades for those two semesters so that I can ascertain whether or not they are eligible to receive funds for the Fall 2012 semester.  Please get those grades to me by June 15th.  We plan to mail the fall checks by August 15th if possible, but that will not happen if I do not have the recipient’s grades.

From Robert McDonnell Invite to attend the Burk Falls, Ontario Canada Chili Cookoff Event:
Friends and Chiliheads
Please be advised that the sponsorship for the first ever, annual, Almaguin / Muskoka / Nippissing Regional Chili Cookoff has been approved by the Almaguin Lions Club and will be taking place on the weekend of August 11th to 13th of this year.
This is a CASI ( Chili Appreciation Society International) sanctioned cookoff and although our best efforts may only award points, we are hoping for a special dispensation that might see our champion advance to the CASI Terlingua International Championship Chili Cookoff in Terlingua Texas this year. Participation by former cookoff contesants may be a deciding factor and the reason that your participation is critical to the success of this first kick-at-the-cat.
This will be a weekend-long event that will include a weekend pass to the accompanying Burk's Falls Country and Bluegrass music festival (see attachments) and an invitation to camp out on the Burk's Falls Agricultural Grounds for a modest entry fee ($45.00 for the whole shebang - cookoff, festival, et al).
Please also be advised that the winning team will have their name engraved on the Robert "Lone Star Bobby" Murie Memorial Chili Bowl which will be presented by one, or both, of his sons Scotty and Chris.
I realize that this is short notice, however, I have seen our Chili Canucks rise to the occasion more than once and I would ask that you support this effort.
Please respond or send any questions to myself surefire@onlink.net or Cookoff Chief Organizer Peter Hall peterhall@bell.net and hopefully we may answer any questions that you might have.
