From Mikie McGarity:
To those of you who have responded over the last week regarding the CASI Board action to discontinue the newsletter contest, I'd like to add my "two cents" worth to the fray.

If you feel strongly that the newsletter contest should be continued, volunteer to take over the task.  I don't recall that it says anywhere in the CASI By-Laws or Rules & Regulations that the newsletter contest must be run by the BOD.  Don't just sit back and criticize and offer no workable alternative.

I agree that a Pod newsletter is an important tool to keep the membership informed and to poll the opinions of the members.

Again, I challenge those of you who profess to care to step up and assume responsibility for this task.  You've got plenty of time to prepare your criteria for the contest and present your ideas at the Great Pepper's Meeting.

From Jim Ezell:
Hello CASI Great Peppers and any interested members.
As you attend your August pod meetings, please take a moment to reflect on what you want from CASI going forward. If you will email me any thoughts and recommendations I would appreciate it greatly. I am running for director to be a positive influence and I need to know what ails you. Trust me, there are no sacred cows in this herd. Anything is fair game so let me know. I will formulate the best program I can put forth and try to look at both sides of any argument. We must openly discuss conflict and prepare a game plan for our future. I just get the feeling that our morale is not what I think it can be. My email is jezell8642@aol.com. I will not disclose any names unless you specifically want me to do that.
There is not adequate time at the Great Pepper Meeting to discuss what we have not given careful thought to. Let's start thinking now.
Thanks

From Ken Rodd:
In reference to the "Newsletter" contest I have the following facts to share.  The newsletter was an idea I presented to the CASI Board of Directors and it was "approved" by the board.  The trophy's for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place were "Dr Feelgood Trophy's" and were donated by a CASI Life Member that resides in San Antonio each year. It only took 10 minutes stage time for announcements.  The judges were CASI members from different parts of the country with a background that would be appropriate to do this task. The amount of entries could have been higher, however, many CASI members were involved in this project and enjoyed it. The contest should not have been cancelled because it was productive in ways other than the total amount of entries.

From Marolyn 'Mayo' Blair:
I am sorry to announce that the Cruise in December has been cancelled. On a personal note..... I am not able to do this as I try to do most things of "Full Steam Ahead" .....I have too many things to do right now and also.....I am not going to be able to put off my knee surgery past September and that is just too much......I had some great responses but as with the economy down, so many are just not able to take the time off and afford the luxury of a vacation right before Christmas......NEXT YEAR GANG.....as we all Pray for everything to be better for everyone.......Thank you all for your interest and support.
