On Thursday night my Hard Drive crashed. If I have missed anything sent to me or have not answered you email, please send it again. Sorry for any inconvenience. It sure has picked a very bad time for this to happen, just before our board meeting this next weekend.

From Nick McGarity:
Once again, it is time for the most laid-back, unique Chili Cookoff there is. Our Charity this year is The Cottondale VFD. This will be our 20th year, spanning locations from Plano to Southlake to Paradise. I think we are done moving.

Mikie's fine mind has come up with unique, collector-grade trophies for all contests this year. And, the traveling Champion Pig Wind Sock will be coming back and re-awarded.

Last year, it snowed 12-13" on Friday, which kind of put a damper on the affair. We are hoping that we will have better weather this year - it only has one way to go. We have plenty of room for RVs, Trailers and Campers. However, both guest bedrooms are already reserved. But sleeping bags/air mattresses are welcome anywhere there is open floor space. Note, we have 2 rather large Labs - i.e., 104 and 112 pounds respectively. The Daytona 125's will be on the Big Screen HDTV and Nick will be cooking his award-winning pizzas for everyone that stays over Saturday night. Pajamas are welcome!

If you cannot come and enter to cook (Jackpot Beans, CASI Chili Saturday and Sunday, Cheeseburgers, Omelets or Bloody Mary's), we desperately need judges for all contests.

If you need directions, give me a starting address and your email address and I'll send you back a personal MapQuest (Yes, even out here in the sticks, we have MapQuest).

We hope to see you the weekend of February 11th through 13th.

Nick and Mikie

From Sherrie Davis:

What a wonder turn out of public and chili cooks. The weather was beautiful - in the 50's, a little windy but perfect for a chili cook off.

Piney Woods Pod wants to say a special thank you to Independence Harley-Davidson and Heather Blount for having this cook off. They out did themselves to welcome the cooks and have a great venue.

Earl "Who", thanks is a small word for all the work you and your team did to make this a smooth running and success. The H-D staff did a super job of handling the registration and People's Choice. Thank you Mavis Nelson for stepping in to assist with CASI Registration, Sharon Dozier, Maxine Reed and Mavis for monitoring - Dana Plocheck for final monitoring and Chuck Speshock for doing the H-D table - from what we could see the judges were having a wonder time and also to our always there when need them tally group - Ken Armond, James Benefield and Ralph Hay. Cook's Pot Deborah Benefield. Again, we could not have run as smoothly with out these guys.

They had 40 CASI chili, 25 Harley Davidson, 14 beans and some of the HD/CASI people cooked on both sides.

After 18 years of not cooking or showing Charlie Throop brought out the Terlingua Museum - it was such a site to behold. Charlie's son, Austin, who is at A & M participated in the cooking and actually made it to finals. Think we got him hooked.

It was even more special when Cindy Reed-Wilkins made her presents and set up Cin Chili booth. She sold frito pies and had her products there for purchase. She donated $100.00 towards the Educational Center that is being built next to the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC. Thank you Cindy for all that you do.

All we can say it - GET READY FOR NEXT YEAR - they want to have another cook off around the same time.
