From Randy Duke:
I have changed my email to randyduke37@yahoo.com.

From Bruce Pinnell:
The CASI Ranch will have limited WiFi Service again this year. The service will be available from Oct 28th to Nov 6th 24 hours per day. The signal will be broadcast from three (3) locations and should reach most of the ranch.
The cost will be $5/day or $20 for the whole event. It will be offered on first come, first served basis. The service will be limited the 100 users.
To access the internet, select the ‘Rancho CASI’ network from your laptop. Then, open your internet browser, select your plan (daily vs. weekly) and enter your credit card info on the secure web page. That’s it.

Because the service uses relatively low capacity internet circuits (the fastest available in the area), we need you to know about some restrictions before you sign up. These restrictions are necessary to allow more people to have access to basic internet services.

The following uses will not be allowed, except in an emergency: Large updates from Microsoft, Adobe or Apple websites, video streaming from web cams, or recorded TV (Hulu), audio streaming from TV or radio stations, or video intensive gaming.

There is no restriction for normal email and web browsing activities. There will be several websites that have free access. These include the CASI website, major sponsor websites, the Weather Channel, and others that may be added for public safety reasons.

If you have questions about the service, please contact Bruce Pinnell at 210.372.0469.

From Connie Collier:

The TICC Second Annual 42 Domino Tournament
When: November 1, 2011

Where: the Judging Pavilion at Rancho CASI de los Chisos

Time: Approximately 6:30-7:00 pm (1 ½ hours after Sotol Pod cookoff results)

Entry Fee: $10 per person
Prize: 2 sets of Commemorative TICC Dominos
Entry limit: 16 teams (form your own team)
Teams accepted in the order that they notify me. If you want to be in the tournament, but don’t have a partner, I will keep a list of “Interested Individuals” for you to contact to help you form your team.
Tournament will have two levels of competition:
Level One: The 16 teams divided into four groups of four teams. Each group will play a three game Round-Robin format with the other teams in the same group. A winning team from each group will advance to Level Two. Group assignments of each team will be by random draw.
Level Two: The 4 teams advancing will play a standard double-elimination format to determine the 2011 TICC “42” Champions.
Note: If we have less than 16 teams enter or enough interest to have 20 teams, then adjustments to Level One will be made.

Contact information: Connie Collier (325)575.7014 or collier@snydertex.com
I will need 2-3 volunteers to help run the tournament. Also we will need 8 card tables and 8 sets of dominos. Please email me if you are interested in helping or if you can bring tables or dominos. Thank you!!!

From Jenny Windsor:
We had a grand total of 470 chili cooks qualify for TICC and 182 show teams. 470 is a new high, by only 1 but still, a record is a record! In 2003 and 2009 we had 469 qualified cooks.
We held 559 cookoffs (down from last year) and judged 15,585 chilis. 360 of the 559 were in Texas. We raised a record $1,453,869.88 dollars for our charities.
States changing their qualification status:

Georgia held 4 cookoffs

New Mexico held 8 cookoffs this year and will move down to a 9 point state from a 12 point state.

Tennessee held 3 cookoffs this year and will move down to a 6 point state from a 12 point state.

Iowa held 6 cookoffs this year and will move up to a 9 point state. Great job!

Kansas got to 12 point state status all on their own by holding 14 non auto qualifying cookoffs! Again, Great Job!
