From Barbara Taylor:
On the way to TICC, coming thru Del Rio...there will be a cco at Lorina's Cantina on Thursday night October 28th, and one on Friday at the Holiday Trav-L-Park. The Friday one has been an evening one in the past, originally for those just arriving that day, we had a late evening turn-in and then a Saturday cco too. When more folks quit the Saturday cco to get to the Ranch sooner, we kept the Friday event, moved turn-in a little earlier, and those of us already there went to play in Mexico during the day. Now that is not a very safe or good idea, so we are wondering before we send our ad into Dorothy for the TT, if you would like to turn-in before it gets dark???? Please respond to me very fast if you are coming to cook in Del Rio on Friday and have an opinion regarding turn-in time. taylor@bigbend.net Thank you for your time in helping make this convenient for the masses! Barbara Taylor

From Ken Peach:
Well we Puget Pod members want to thank all those who voted for us to have a Washington State CASI CCO and also for those who didn't vote for us. We have a philosphy about life and the world would be better for it: Everyone should agree to disagree - and move on since I recently found out that life is much shorter than we think it is. Don't sweat the little things or the big things will eat you up. Live, love and be happy because who knows what tomorrow brings.

We had our cookoff and had 19 cooks with four not showing up. We got two new members and the weather was a perfectly normal Washington State day - Rain on Sat and cloudy all day Sunday but warm as it was up in low 60's. Since we have a few people who are up there in age and three of us have spent around 20 plus years during competition chili. So I started asking people to be a family like and help unload and set up - which they did. The Manager of the Market was nice enough to give us $5 market dollars each to buy some coffee, rolls or something (this is at the second biggest and best Farmer's Market in Washington - Pike Place being the one in Seattle that is most photographed). Since it was such a nice day most people were catching up weeding or something so we didn't have as big a crowd as we had hoped for but still made about $500 for the charity. Judie Anderson won for the third time (no big surprise to us as she is even better at bbq contests). It was a great, fun day and again we want to thank all the Great Peppers, Directors and anyone else who supported our pod for this event. We wish all of you good luck and great success for anything you do this year and many years to come.

Ken (Old Sarge fading off into the sunset.)

From Dave Hewlett:
Great Pepper's Meeting Update:  I show that 16 pods are not reg and 11 of them have rooms. So it may be that we only need 5 more rooms and the B&B has 10 so we should be ok. That does not count any unknown non pod people that may sign up.

From Jim Basile:
It is time again for the Annual Massachusetts State Chili Cookoff Championship for the second year at the Middlefield Fair in beautiful Middlefield, MA. The fairgrounds open at 8AM. The cook and one helper admitted free. All others will pay at the gate for admission to the fair. There is plenty to do at the fair with music, fun and more! Saturday Night is the Big Truck Pulls!
