From Carolyn Seelig:
TEXAS LADIES STATE
and the

CASI SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

What a wonderful, rewarding gift the advocacy for the CASI Scholarship Program has been for all chili cooks, and what more we “ladies” can do to strengthen the scholarship program in the future! A couple of months ago, two of us “ladies” were at a chili cookoff engaged in casual conversation when the topic of giveaway items at the Texas Ladies State cookoff was discussed. As you all know, it has become tradition, a tradition that is dear to all of us, one that carries with it an extension of friendship to all the “ladies,” to pass out giveaway good luck items at Texas Ladies State. Some of the “ladies” begin on their giveaway token project for the next year as soon as they arrive home from the current year. It is an important gesture for the “ladies” to share their camaraderie. With all that being said, the list of “ladies” below has joined in the decision to let go of the giveaway tradition, and instead, make an annual individual contribution to the CASI Scholarship Program in lieu of past tradition. We sincerely hope our decision offends no one; we do hold the friendship of each of you “ladies” near and dear to our heart, and we wish each of you the best of luck at Texas Ladies State. We will post this in the Terlingua Trails, Ed’s Reflections and CHN as advance notice for what we plan to begin in 2011. We want to extend an open invitation to any other “ladies” perhaps interested in joining our effort to please contact us. Contacts are listed below.

Each year, in January and February, a reminder will be posted on Ed’s Reflections and CHN for any interested newcomers to the group. Each year, in January and February, an email will be sent to the current group notifying you that if you again want to join the group you are responsible to send in your contribution to the CASI Scholarship Program Administrator. Contributions of your choice will remain anonymous, but there will be a March 1st deadline because we need your name to add to the group list. Signage will be posted at Texas Ladies State with the names of our group, and updated annually. Pink flyers will also be handed out in lieu of giveaways with the names of our group, and updated annually.

We hope there are other “ladies” out there who feel as we do and who will find satisfaction in helping to build the financial strength of the CASI Scholarship Program.
