From Earl "WHO" Gorham:

Magnolia is having it's first CASI cookoff in conjunction with their Downtown Christmas Festival this Saturday the 12th.

Come out and help make this a successful event.

Piney Woods Pod will be helping with the cookoff by running the judging for them.

The Chamber expects a large turnout so if you have some throwdown chili please bring it with you.

The cookoff will be held in the parking lot of the Library downtown along with the vendors for the festival.

The parade will end near the cookoff and the crowd will be coming right down the street in front of the cookoff to get to the skating rink at the Magnolia RR Depot and the festivities at the community center next door.

The city asks that cooks use discretion with their alcohol as this is a family event please use mugs or glasses for your beer.

The road in front of the library along the RR tracks will be closed to traffic early but the side road ( Buddy Riley Rd ) will be open till around ten but the cooks will be allowed access until 12.00 after that they will have to carry their gear in.

But there will be Student volunteers on golf carts to shuttle you and your gear into the cookoff and back to the parkig area beside the Blue Iguana Mexican Restaraunt.

Turn in time is 2:00PM for Chili. and Show is 11:30 til 1:30

To get there from downtown take I-45 north past the Woodlands to highway 242and exit.  Then turn left onto 242 and follow it to FM1488 and turn left on 1488.  Follow 1488 into Magnolia as you come into Magnolia Buddy Riley Rd will veer off to the left.
Take this to the cookoff site.

From the Northwest side take Highway 249 through Tomball to Pinehurst.  At Pinehurst 249 becomes FM 1774 and runs into downtown Magnolia.  Buddy Riley will cross 1774 so turn right and cross the tracks to the cookoff site.  After 10:00 you will have to go past Buddy Riley to FM 1488 turn right and go to Buddy Riley turn right and come back to the cookoff site.  There are a couple of side roads, but I don't know their names so I will not try to tell you that way so I don't get you lost.

I will have my cell phone with me to help any who get lost or turned around (713-724-5736).

I ask everyone to be patient with these people as it is their first cookoff and they have to deal with the city and the chamber of commerce and they are all still learning.

Hope to see ya'll there

From Jim Ezell, Sponsor Chair :
Below is a thank you note from Christine with Woodbridge. Once again I want to thank the Board and membership for showing our sponsors the warmth and hospitality that comes naturally to our organization. Without that, we could not retain this important corporate support.

I will work on ideas to promote our winner to sponsor related functions.

Jim Ezell

Hi Jim:

Thank you to all the CASI execs and members for your wonderful hospitality and your appreciation of our sponsorship. You all make TICC a very special event that I truly look forward to all year. I can't wait to return again next November.

I hope you'll be able to make it out to Woodbridge for our cookoff some time. This year I believe it is going to be Saturday, October 16. We would love to return your hospitality!

Best,
Christine Vestfals

NOTE:  Do not contact our sponsors directly, but contact Jim and let him work with the sponsors and get their promotion of your event.  Please remember that there is a Policy for contacting sponsors.  You can find it on our web page (http://www.chili.org/) in the Resource Center.

Some Information from Kathy Autin:
If you know any woman currently undergoing Chemo, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - 1 time per month for 4 months while she is in treatment.

All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. http://www.cleaningforareason.org/

Please pass this information on to bless a woman going through cancer treatment.

This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women. It's our job to pass the word and let them know that there are people out there that care. Be a blessing to someone and pass this information along.

It is Wednesday and time for me to highlight the CCOs scheduled for this weekend.
