January 8, 2011, Knights of Columbus Council 2971 Chili Cook off. KC Hall, two miles west of Columbus on I-10 frontage road. Categories include CASI Chili, Local Chili, Pinto Beans, Salsa and Margaritas. Set up will be between 7am & 9 am, Chili turn in at 1:00pm, Salsa and Margaritas turn in at 11:00am. Beans turn in a 12noon. $20.00 Chili entry fee and $15.00 each for Salsa, Margaritas and Beans. Trophys given for Chili and Showmanship. Jackpot beans, margaritas and salsa 50/50 split. The chili cookoffs at the VFW in Sattler (Canyon Lake) for January 29th and 30th have been cancelled. It is sad as this cookoff has been popular since it started in 1995.
