From Robert (Wappo) Schrade:
Have you ever been at the CASI ranch
when there are no cooks or spectators? Well here is your chance and you can learn
electric 101 also. I will be arriving at the ranch on 7-13 and start working on
7-14 on various jobs that are under way for ranch improvements. If you would
like to come to the ranch and help with these projects you are more than welcome
to. Please contact Wappo at casiwappo@aol.com or call 210-823-3602. All
help will be appreciated. If you bring your RV, there are electrical hook ups. I
look forward to seeing anyone who can come help do some work and have some fun.
From Ken Rodd:
Krazy Flats 2006 - The shirt theme this year was "Good Clean Dirty Fun" and was
it ever. The staff at Krazy Flats always was talking "Idea's" to improve the
Saloon and increase business - This was the year for the all new "Krazy Flats"
web site (still operating - www.krazyflats.com
). We felt more information should be put out for the general public with
information on hours of operation, what we sold, any events we had going on like
the Open House. Don Weber, our own in house "high techie" developed and created
the web site - boy did it get attention. The fact we advertised the Krazy Flats
Saloon as having a free WIFI connection added more talking. Why was the Krazy
Flats Saloon the only place to get on the Internet - ANSWER WAS SIMPLE- to bring
in more business and it did. Many people happy and some not so happy. The Krazy
Flats special edition shirts sold fast - the Charter Members breakfast served
over 150 people. Sammy Plant and her POD donated the breakfast and prepared it.
Krazy Flats Open House was a hit and more people started coming. Bruce Smith and he
volunteer band entertained for more than two hours. The dedicated volunteer
workers all pitched in on this day to keep up. We had a little unannounced
"entertainment" as Sammy and her POD brought down a "HOT TUB" and had it set up
just across the street. Those that saw it will certainly remember it - some were
in it and others were watching - certainly it stood up for that years theme.
NOTES:
FROM THE BOARD MEETING: Little by little, I will highlight some of the information discussed at the CASI Board of Director's Summer Meeting.
One of the presentations last Saturday was from the Museum Committee and the Appledumpling Gang (the Apple Dumpling Gang is the Museum Committee). The presentation was made by Harvey West.
They have been quite busy since our Winter Board Meeting when we accepted their proposal to work on the CASI Museum. They are currently trying to secure any of the original CASI documents. At this time they are working to have a Virtual Museum. There will be a presentation at this years Great Pepper's Meeting.
You can see their works by going to their web page (www.appledumplingang.com). If you go to the site, click on Bucky's nose and go in and see what's there.
If you have any of the original documents, please contact Harvey or Jim Stateczny. They are working with a an individual who is an expert in the preservation of documents. They have learned that this must be the first step. These documents do not weather well no matter where they are stored. They even deteriorate more if they are stored in hot or wet environments.
Thanks Guys for all your work and we will be watching as you add more.
Cliff and I will be out of town for this weekend. We will return late Monday. As always, if you need me, I will have my cell phone and my I Pad (still haven't learned to use it really well). Leave me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Have a GREAT weekend and stay cool!
