From Mama Sue Caffey:
On behalf our our promoter, Reuben Camacho, Hutto VFD, John and I wish to thank all of you for hearing our cry of distress and coming to sanction the cook off Saturday. I know the LaLannes had to get up like at 3 and 4 AM to get there to beat the parade. But we got 'er done. Thanks to Deans, Dosses, J & J, Dani, Curtis, LaLannes, including Stacy (Riley's mom), Steve Ashman, ChyAnn, Jim, and 4 newbies, Gabriel,Dean, Bobby, and Mike, plus me and Papa, we had 19 cooking our hearts out.
We thank Billy Doss for refereeing, Jeannette-Head Judge, Dani- Monitor, John, Billy, and Jess for tallying and everyone else that helped and pitched in and helped us all get settled, set up, etc. and welcoming the new cooks. Poor Rueben, I think he was very impressed that our well-oiled machine came in and took over and ran things smoothly as he had had some high hurdles to jump getting this put together. Thanks again for our wonderful chili family. You are the greatest.

All in all, it was a very good time, lots of crowd, and we are hoping it will be bigger and better next year.
Steve and I signed up two new CASI members and 2 new Pod members. Winning lst place was very nice and exciting, but even nicer was seeing old friends and making new friends and telling a multitude of new folks the greatness of CASI. GOD BLESS US ALL AND GOD BLESS AMERICA. Mama Sue Caffey
From Larry Velasquez:
The 2nd annual Gladiator Chili POD cook-off which was held at the Overland Park VFW saw another day of heavy rains. This year we had a first time CASI winner from Indiana who the day before had won our Kansas State home-style cook-off (and had place 4th in CASI). Taking home the first place award was Natalie Atwood from Shelbyville, Indiana. Again, we want to thank the Indiana cooks for supporting our cook-off and take note of the points they took home with them!
