To All:
Please take a minute and read the article linked below - the young man
Featured here is a close friend of mine and Jeannie's, and has been a true Living 'life lesson' for our family. Tony was initially diagnosed with cancer at 12 when he began to struggle in Ironkids Triathlon, then as life Progressed he has found himself battling three different forms of cancer in his short 28 years of life. He is presently fighting what may be the ultimate battle against osteosarcoma, and yet this young man never complains, carrying himself with a grace and poise that I could only hope to muster under the circumstances.
Jeannie and I attended this dinner last Sunday for osteosarcoma research for St Jude, where Tony brought the house down at Restaurant Iris, in a seven course tasting that was a resounding success! This year, I have chosen to do the Memphis in May triathlon again, but will do it this time with purpose
- I am doing this race in honor of Tony Oliveira, and am hoping to raise some funds in his honor for osteosarcoma research.
I am hoping you will consider helping me in this cause. The Olympic distance race is May 23rd, and is a 1.5k (.92 mile) swim, a 40k (24.9 mi) bike, and a 10k (6.2 mi) run. Some have chosen to help with a flat contribution, others on a per mile basis (total race is 32 miles) - regardless of how you might consider supporting this, or however small the contribution, I am TREMENDOUSLY grateful for any consideration and support.
I am humbled to race on behalf of this young man - he has truly been an inspiration to me and to my family.
If you would like to help, please make a check out to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and mail to me at the address below:
