We are back from a weekend filled with fun.  I am not returning with points, so we didn't have to worry about finding a place for a big Trophy.  I did tie for 13th and got 14th.  Cliff and I want to thank all of those Cooks that made us feel welcomed and showed us a great time.  There were cooks from 4 states (Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas).  We had a special guest (Willem Fitjen) from the Netherlands.  Willem is a "Food Chemist."  He research's ingredients in food and then he does "Taste Tests."

A special thanks to Bruce Smith and the Arkansas Cooks who had a terrific Friday night party as well as a very successful Saturday CCO.  The weather started out windy and then Bruce did his Cooks Meeting, and the wind stopped and the sun shone!

From Sherrie Davis:
What a wonderful day - the weather was perfect - a little windy, but great for cooking chili. We filled up the parking lot with 51 cooks plus friends and family. We had several new cooks competing. 20 beans were turned in.

Got to thank Mayo Blair for the beautiful Final Table setting - they were able to celebrate St. Patties Day a little early with green, green, green. Cindy Reed-Wilkins was the Final Table Monitor and gave the Judges an all inspiring talk about CASI, judging chili and having FUN.

We celebrated a few birthdays also - Chuck Spishock and Dee Hay. Susan Armand met a lady during jury duty - she thought this sounded like lots of fun - BOY was it ever for her - she got the 50/50 money and now it looks like we have a new follower and possible cook. Teena and Taylor presented Dorothy Spishock with a THANK YOU stained glass picture which had on it the State of Texas and an S. Thank you Dorothy for all of the years of work you put in being our Great Pepper.

Teena Miller (GP) and her staff did a bang up job in getting things put together and running a smooth cook off - Thanks a bunch to Pat Krenek, Maxine Reed and Sharon Dozier for doing the silent auction. Laura Recovery Center brought in some beautiful baskets for the auction.

As usual the Moose Lodge took care of us and we want to thank them for all they do for the cook off.
