From Carolyn Seelig:

HAPPY NEW YEAR Ladies!

Here it is, January 2011, can you believe it?

As mentioned in the June 2010 issue of the TERLINGUA TRAILS, this is the reminder that a group of ladies have chosen to make individual contributions to the CASI National Scholarship Program in lieu of the traditional Texas Ladies State “good luck” giveaway tokens.  We want to again extend an open invitation to any other ladies perhaps interested in joining our effort which takes off this year.  Our goal is to do our part to help strengthen the CASI National Scholarship Program in the future.

An email notice has gone out to the ladies who initially expressed an interest several months ago in joining the group reminding them that they are responsible to send in their contributions to the CASI National Scholarship Program Administrator prior to a March 1, 2011 deadline.  Remember, the amount of your contribution will remain anonymous, but we need to add your name to the group list.  The list of names will be used for flyers which will be handed out at TLS and for signage which we hope to have ready to set up at the registration area.  NOTE:  The March 1st deadline is important and it is necessary so names can be verified, flyers can be printed, etc.

Plan on attending the 11th Horny Toad CCO in Rankin, TX.  It is the place to be on February 5!  There will be a Fish Fry on Friday night as well as the Tequila Rose Party for all the women, and on Saturday morning we will start with Cook's Breakfast an then the Parade announcing t the arrival of the Horny Toads that have been rounded up and for the past month have been herded toward Rankin.  This will be followed by the Horny Toad CCO.  Remember, only 1 man has ever been a winner!  Saturday night there will be a Stew Supper.  Mark your calendars!  This is the only place to be on February 5.

In addition to our CASI competition, we have a public-judged chili (first prize is two roundtrips on American Airlines), a charro beans competition (first prize is a week's bed and breakfast stay in Zihuatanejo) and best margaritas (a bottle of Casa Dragones Tequila, one of the world's best, not to mention most expensive!).  We are excited that CASI awards are by San-Miguel-based Rose Ann Hall Designs this year.  They are beautiful.

Hope to see everyone in magical San Miguel de Allende!
