Monday Afternoon Post
From Mama Sue Caffey:
What an absolutley wonderful time was had by all at the Lone Star Weekend event. Sorry this report is coming a week late, but Farmer and Fetch had lots of stuff going on plus an up and down computer. My apologies for the tardiness, Sgt. Mgt. As always, Caffeys and Steve Nadeau have a race to see who gets there lst on Monday. Steve always wins. Not to be daunted this year, Caffeys snuck in on Sunday so we won this year......YIPPPEE, YIPPEE, YIPPEE. We partied every night, visited, shopped, ate, visited, partied, held our annual Sot Pod Burgers and Dogs on Friday night, ate the delicious fish dinner by Manchaca Fire Hall, hosted a dinner Sunday night for the stay overs and Camp Workers, and family, totalling 20. All in all, a great time. Good to see so many folks we had not seen in a while. At 12 noon on Saturday, we saluted our departed friends Tom Cook and Lillie Hackworth, at the Kinnison Camp, cooked chili, did show, and visited some more. Dianna McMillan came with friend Diana, and Dianna was our Emcee. She asked Caffeys, Ken and Yolie, Clyde and Charmaine, to come forward. She paid tribute to us for being the lst folks that helped them and kept them in the chili world. She then called our Directors present, Dana, Ed, and Renee, forward and presented them with a $1000.00 check to the CASI Scholarship in honor and memory of our J.J. Don't believe there was a dry eye in the house. A great time, a great event, lots of fun, good friends. Don't get no better'n that.

From Mike Mayorga:
Larry and Janie have done a great job in getting some really good hotel rates for a couple of hotels across for the Cabela’s. See below info.
Arrangements have been made to provide discounted room rates ($79.00/night +tax) at The Hampton Inn and Suites in Buda, across from the cook-off site at Cabela's. Be sure to ask for the chili cook-off rate. The rooms are for Friday and Saturday night with a deadline of August 9, 2010. Telephone (512) 295-4900.
From Clyde Rogers:
The 11th annual ACES Pod cook off will be held August 7th and 8th at the Bexar Bowling Social Hall east of San Antonio off IH 10. Not much time left in this chili year to get those points for TICC. I know it is hot outside preparing that chili but after turn-in there is a nice A/C social hall with plenty of cold beverages we can purchase while we socialize. (their prices are very reasonable). So bring your chili, your bean, and your jalapeno recipes along with a few dollars for the great raffle we have, out to the ACES Pod cook off this week end. ACES would like all that attend the cook off to know Saturday will be in memory of JJ McMillan who was our announcer for 10 years. For directions and more details check the Trails. Friday night cooks party. Plenty of RV parking, no hook ups. Saturday benefits the St. Hedwig VFD.
