The champion of this event automatically qualifies for TICC. It is open to any woman 18 years or older who wishes to compete. CASI rules apply. For complete rules goto http://www.casi.org/ click on Resource Center, and then click on Official Rule Book. There are goody bags for the first 20 cooks to register. Entry is $20 with CASI turn in time noon.
Camping is available at nearby Crawford County State Park, with hook-ups. http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/State-Parks/Locations/Crawford
Pittsburg has drawn cooks from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas in the past, and there is considerable talk this year about travelers from points beyond taking advantage of the holiday weekend to cook in this one. The event is part of a larger city wide festival, Little Balkans Festival (http://www.littlebalkans.com/ click on News and Events). Other competitions include Kansas Hot-Wings Championship - any style, Home style chili, Salsa - $5 each. People's choice, junior, and rookie are all FREE! First Year CASI cooks are half price.
Expect the usual large public turnout so please plan to cook extra chili for all the taster's cups and help raise money for charity. There are craft booths and entertainment for you and your family.
Remember ladies; "Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach."
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins...all women who receive this invitation, we hope you join us in celebration of chili, charity, and fun.

It is Friday and another week has just gone by. It is only 2 weeks until the Great Pepper's Meeting! On Monday, I plan to have finalized the Schedule of Events and the Agendas. I hope that whereever you are, you have a great time cooking chili. It is "at Last" great weather here in West Texas to be out enjoying the last of Summer!
