We have several Housekeeping tasks that have been accomplished in the past several days. Earlier in the year, one of our members that used our Tax Exempt Letter which was dated 1992, suggested that we might want to get an updated letter. That has been accomplished and I will be posting it in the Resource Center. The following is that letter.
Note that the way the IRS has us in their system is a two line name:
CASI INC
CHILI APPRECIATION SOCIETY INTL INC
This is important if anyone is trying to look us up via the IRS's website, in that the IRS search engine for non-profits will ONLY search based on the first line. Thus people can look us up as CASI
INC but including CHILI or any other word on the second line will come up zip. Also, to narrow the search, one would use Texas. Not sure how many of you have ever had to work with the IRS website trying to locate us, but if you have, this tidbit will help. The results of the search won't tell you much, but in the absence of the new IRS letter, it was one way to provide assurance we were legit.Another item that was addressed in Saturday's Board of Directors Meeting was the cost of a CASI Membership. In the past the Membership Application has broken down the cost of membership by your address. If you were a member wih a North America address, your membership costs $15.00. The Annual International Membership cost $30.00. It has been changed to $15.00 US Dollars and you will recieve your Terlingua Trails electronically. A lifetime membership remains $225.00 US Dollars and the Corporate Annual Dues are $100.00 US Dollars. Here is a copy of the membership form. Feel free to download this application and if you haven't joined CASI or paid your annual dues, please send them in.
The Regional Application from the Highland Lakes Pod and the SOT Pod to convert the Howdy Roo CCO to a Regional CCO was approved. This new Regional CCO will be held next May.
Dorathy Williams reported that at this time last year (2009), she had sent out 518 CCO packets. As of this date (2010) she has sent out 538 CCO packets.
Enough for today!
