Over the next couple of days, I will try to ensure that we get as much information about our activities at TICC.

Congratulations to Keith Karaff who was selected  Chili Head of the year.  Keith has done much to promote chili as well as always there to help.

Congratulations also to Patsy Childress for being voted Great Pepper of the year.  Patsy has worked hard the past 2 years as Great Pepper of the Black Gold Pod.  She did a superb job planning and executing this year's Great Pepper's meeting.

It is with much sorrow that I report the death of Mike Strack.  He did much for CASI.  The following is an email that I received from Don Beattie concerning the funeral for Mike.  Mike was from Sierra Vista AZ. Mike passed away last week and his service is this Thursday. I am checking to see if you have any words you would like expressed at his service, it could be a funny story about Mike."  If you have one, please email it to Beattie Jr, Donald LTC MIL USA TRADOC donald.beattie@us.army.mil.

From Patsy Childress:
I want to express all my thanks for the great honor of being the 2009 Great Pepper of the Year. It was a privilege to serve as Great Pepper of the Black Gold Chili Pod for the last two years. It is not hard to “shine” when you have so many great people around you to make you look good. I thank each of them for the compliment of the nomination.

Also, to have been one of a number of great people nominated for this honor this year was an honor in itself. My thanks to all of the Great Peppers of CASI who gave me this honor with their vote. It is a moment I’ll not forget and is one of those big smiles to keep in my heart.  God Bless You All, Patsy Childress

From Mikie McGarity:
I would like to extend a very special thank you to Roger Foltz. Roger was kind enough to call me from the stage during announcements and keep me posted about the winners so that I, in turn, could contact others who weren’t able to attend. Being able to learn the outcome in such a timely manner really helped to ease the feeling of not being there. Roger, we thank you very much.  Mikie McGarity.

Three Directors retired from the CASI Board of Directors this year.  Those 3 were honored.  A big THANK YOU goes to each of these former Directors.  They each have contributed much time and expertise during their terms.

Those Directors retiring are Douglas (Bucky) Seelig who spent countless hours on improving and publishing each month the Terlingua Trails.  Because of his effort, this newspaper has become a valuable tool to our membership.  At TICC, he also was responsible for the Main Beer Concession.  He was there each morning to prepare it for the day's activities and stayed until closure each evening.  He and Carolyn were the people who made countless Ice Deliveries to each camp site during the week of TICC.  He and Carolyn have spend several weeks each year on the Ranch preparing, repairing and doing any task that was required to keep the Ranch intact.

Ken Rodd was responsible for Krazy Flats from its inception to the building and promoting of this area at TICC.  Krazy Flats has provided countless hours of entertainment for our members and guests.  He has also been responsible for our PR.  He has promoted CASI and has helped it grow.

Bill Pierson has been our TallyMaster.  He has maintained and recorded each cook's cooking and show records.  This is a year round job and is important to each cook.  His records are how we know which cook or showteam is qualified to be invited to participate during TICC.  This is a job that continues year round.  He is responsible for the General Information Packets and running registration during TICC.

These men have contributed much to CASI.  They will be missed.  We hope that they will continue to volunteer time for our Organization.  Each of you will be missed.

A big THANK YOU to Diane Fitzhenry and her crew that were responsible for the judging on Saturday.  It went very smoothly and was done very professionally.

A Thanks to the Tally group for each of the events held during the week.  They did an outstanding job.

The BBQ competition was very successful for a first time event.  There were 33 teams.  McCormick's support of this event was really great.  Thanks to Kelly and Kim Draper and also to Connie Collier and her crew.  With all of you working together, it was a really great event.

Below I am going to list by judging levels the ticket numbers that did not have a name beside them.
