Ruby Ross is home and doing well. She says each day gets better. Tom Cook is still in the hospital this day and from the information I have received may be coming home soon with hospice care. Please keep Ruby and Tom in your thoughts and prayers.
It is getting close for the deadline to submit your idea for the Poster Contest. I am running the rules once again. It is your opportunity to have your artwork a part of CASI history!
CASI is looking for a unique, creative design that embodies the essence of TICC and CASI.
Artwork must be original and should include bold colors.
The dimensions of the two posters will be 18” X 24” and 11” X 17”. Submissions do not need to be that size, but they must maintain that proportion. The 11” x 17” poster is an informational poster. Copies of last years posters will be made available in PDF format upon request. These posters may be used as a guideline for some of the content required in the design.
Winning designs may also be used for souvenir TICC shirts.
All entries should include in the title, “44 Annual Terlingua International Chili Championship”, and the date, “November 6, 2010”. It must also list the names of the current Board members and include the CASI logo.
Designs must be sent electronically in a standard graphic format (PDF or JPG).
Pictures of last year’s winners and sponsor logos will be made available and must be added to the poster design before printing. Changes to the wording and design may be requested by the Board.
If selected, the artwork becomes the sole property of CASI and the Terlingua International Chili Championship and may or may not be used in any manner CASI desires. The winning designer will receive credit with their name included on the final product.

There are not enough words to express our Thanks to our Friends in the Chili Family. Thanks for the cards, calls, flowers, donations, and hugs during the illness and death of my son. I received an email this week from Ken Robinson:
I am a CASI member from Australia which is a bit far away for members. Here chilli is not well known, but gaining popularity. It is something I wish to promote. This will be difficult, because I live in a little remote town in the Northern Territory, pop 350, and am 76 yo.
I believe you have a branch in the Caribbean, which would have a similar climate to here, I would appreciate information from people who may grow their own peppers, which is necessary here. Our supermarket doesn't stock chillis, and is a 200 km round trip away.
While I might not be able help on the charity side, I am interested in what is going on in your part of the world. As an Aussie Vietnam Veteran, I met a lot of people from Texas, and the South, and like them.
I have been in contact with a presenter on a national gardening show, her husband likes chilli, if I can get information, maybe I can get some publicity, and get something started.
I like your charity work also, if we can have fun and help people at the same time, what a wonderful idea.

I received an email this week from Ken Robinson:
I am a CASI member from Australia which is a bit far away for members. Here chilli is not well known, but gaining popularity. It is something I wish to promote. This will be difficult, because I live in a little remote town in the Northern Territory, pop 350, and am 76 yo.
I believe you have a branch in the Caribbean, which would have a similar climate to here, I would appreciate information from people who may grow their own peppers, which is necessary here. Our supermarket doesn't stock chillis, and is a 200 km round trip away.
While I might not be able help on the charity side, I am interested in what is going on in your part of the world. As an Aussie Vietnam Veteran, I met a lot of people from Texas, and the South, and like them.
I have been in contact with a presenter on a national gardening show, her husband likes chilli, if I can get information, maybe I can get some publicity, and get something started.
I like your charity work also, if we can have fun and help people at the same time, what a wonderful idea.
Thank you for allowing me to become a member, I certainly will not abuse, my membership.

The Festival on the Trails celebrates the unique history of Gardner, KS where the Sante Fe, Oregon and California trails met and then separated to the old west. In a true "shoot-out," there was a three-way tie for first place with first time CASI cook, Chris Fox of Gardner winning the tie breaker. A torrential rain and strong winds didn't dampen the cooks' spirits as they held on to their canopies and cook stoves and continued to cook.

She is still at Fredericksburg Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, TX.

We are excited to be having this one-time, evening CCO at Traders Village on Thursday, July 8. The TX Festivals & Events Assoc. (TFEA) is having their annual conference & trade show in Houston and their kick-off party will be held at Traders Village that same night. We were asked to put together a CCO to show festival organizers from across the state what a CCO consisted of and how they, too, might have one at their festivals. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase CASI to event organizers and potentially get new CCO’s in various parts of the state. I hope you will plan to come out and support this cook-off. These conference attendees will be the judges for both the margaritas and the chili, as well as the public for the People’s Choice margarita. (please make margaritas, if you can) We would also like to ask you to bring throw-down chili for their frito pie bar that will be part of their party food for the evening. Those that can, please put decorations at your cooking area and I also encourage those of you who can, to do show that evening. Both of these will only serve to show the attendees how much fun we have and how much a CCO would add to their events.

CASI is looking for a unique, creative design that embodies the essence of TICC and CASI.
Artwork must be original and should include bold colors.
The dimensions of the two posters will be 18” X 24” and 11” X 17”. Submissions do not need to be that size, but they must maintain that proportion. The 11” x 17” poster is an informational poster. Copies of last years posters will be made available in PDF format upon request. These posters may be used as a guideline for some of the content required in the design.
Winning designs may also be used for souvenir TICC shirts.
All entries should include in the title, “44 Annual Terlingua International Chili Championship”, and the date, “November 6, 2010”. It must also list the names of the current Board members and include the CASI logo.
Designs must be sent electronically in a standard graphic format (PDF or JPG).
Pictures of last year’s winners and sponsor logos will be made available and must be added to the poster design before printing. Changes to the wording and design may be requested by the Board.
If selected, the artwork becomes the sole property of CASI and the Terlingua International Chili Championship and may or may not be used in any manner CASI desires. The winning designer will receive credit with their name included on the final product.
Submission deadline will be June 20th. Entries must be sent to Janice Miller, 3014 Oak Mountain Trail, San Angelo, TX 76904 or garjans@suddenlink.net. Winning entries will be chosen at the Board of Directors Meeting in Arlington, Texas on June 26, 2010.
