From Jim Stateczny:

Here is what I know as of now:
I have been doing some research on some of the problems folks are having with Windows 7 and the Tally program. It seems that Windows 7 has some issues with screen resolutions and things displaying correctly. It seems that any screen resolution setting lower than “1400x1050” will cause the screen not to always display items correctly. It seems that the “1050” is the critical parameter.

Now as far as the printer is concerned, I have no idea. I hooked my Windows 7 notebook up to several laser printers, and the results printed properly. From talking to a few of our members this weekend, they claim that the printer selection box is not appearing when they tell the program to print, and thus nothing is printed. I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this, since my computer is working properly. I know of nothing out of the ordinary that anybody has done to my computer that would cause it to work properly.
Dennis Jackson's services are set for. Visitation tomorrow Wednesday 9-15-10 from 7-8PM.

Funeral will be Thursday at the Cowboy church (where Glyn’s was) 10 am.  The address for this church is
Texoma Cowboy Church

From Larry Burruss:
Please keep Janie Burruss and her family in your thoughts and prayers.  She found out last Friday that her brother, Johnny Osborn, has been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.  Many of the older cooks will remember Johnny from the Chilympiad days.  He is an El Jefe in the organization and donated many hours of volunteer time to help in the success of the event.  He also was an original member of the three time world championship "Great Southwest Show Team".  Johnny has two daughters who work with him in his business ventures in Midland, Texas.

From Cynthia Gill:
We are holding the CASI Guanajuato International Cook-Off on January 29, 2011 in San Miguel de Allende.  San Miguel was just named "One of the Ten Top Vacation Destinations in the World" by Travel and Leisure magazine. It's a great place to qualify (1st, 2nd and 3rd, qualify for TICC!) and a great place to have a wonderful vacation experience. We are providing everyone with 10 lbs. (the kilo equivalent) of ground meat and a large pot, so they can also participate in our People's Choice category too. In addition, we have a charro bean competition and of course, margaritas -- all with great prizes.

There is an information website for all the travel details: http://ssanmiguelinformation.blogspot.com/ and another for all the registration info: http://www.chiliandcharros.com/. We have a Chili and Charros Facebook page too!

We hope to see lots of CASI cooks this winter in beautiful and
historic, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico!

From Happy Hinman:

Here's the flyer for the Medina County Fair (Hondo) cookoff. Please be there early, the West gate used for Chili entrants will be used for fair attendees at 10 am. If you don't beat the rush you will have to wait in line. One day cookoff only, but it's been over a year in the making. Great venue, lots of trees, close bathrooms and plenty of parking where you can drive in at set up your canopy. Cash prizes mentioned in the flyer are for the local cookoff only. Cooks fairground entry is covered with the entry fee. They sell beer so if you bring your own you need to be cool about it. Hope to see you there. Turn in time is 2:30 and the gates will be open until 7 for those that want to attend the exhibits after the cookoff.

NOTE:  After a great deal of water, we are in Salado. There has been a lot of water and much of the area has been flooded.  The water has receeded, but there is a lot of destruction.  Despite all of that, we are going to have a great time.  The people here are trying to make this a great event.  All of you who are traveling today, please be save and we will see you soon.

If you are cooking this weekend, good luck!
