I am up and I am slow. I have had quite of bit of pain, but it's over. I see the Dr this morning. He called yesterday and said that the surgery went well. Thank you again for all of your support. I hope this weekend is full of chili, charity and most of all fun!

It is time again for the Annual Massachusetts State Chili Cookoff Championship for the second year at the Middlefield Fair in beautiful Middlefield, MA. It will be held on August 14, 2010. The fairgrounds open at 8AM. The cook and one helper admitted free. All others will pay at the gate for admission to the fair. There is plenty to do at the fair with music, fun and more! Saturday Night is the Big Truck Pulls! Come early and stay late!
New for this year is a Salsa contest as well! Make your own or bring a jar. Come and have some fun!! Bring your decorations and make your shelf or booth shine to be eligible for the Showman’s Award.
All the proceeds will be going to charity. Last year’s proceeds purchased new equipment for the Middlefield Fair’s concession booth.

Personal Note: I have finally had 2 lab reports that are negative for infection in that toe. I have been off of antibiotic therapy for 2 weeks. Today I will have surgery to place bone into my toe. I have to be at the hospital at 8:00. They will take me to surgery sometime after that. The orthopedic Surgeon will take the bone from my hip and give it to the Foot Dr who will start a new surgery by repreping me and he is going to mount this bone onto a wire and imbed it in my foot thus making a bone for the end of that toe. I am not supposed to have to stay overnight, but that will not be determined until the surgery is finished. I will probably not be able to do much today after I leave. I hope to be able to post a blog on Thursday. That is still to be seen. It may be a little later in the day than I usually do this post. Thank you to all of you who have remembered my family and Cliff and I in your prayers. The calls and emails have been wonderful. Hopefully this will heal and I no longer be fighting this infection.
Today is Wednesday and time to take a look at the CCOs planned for this weekend. There are plenty to choose from. There are CCOs in five different States and one at almost every section of TX. There one tomorrow night in Houston. If you are in that area, plan to come and help make this CCO a real success.

Most Especially, a great big “THANK YOU” to those of you that returned your COMPLETED UPDATED PROFILE. Members, some of you have no idea how important this piece of information is to your Alcalde and CASI. The UPDATED PROFILE you received with your Ballot included a Space to put Who you want to Bequeath your Site to upon your death. (The older PROFILE does not include this information). If you have not filled out this form, and you need a copy, you can go to the Resource Center on CASI’s Web-site, look for Old 320 Documents and Information and download a copy from there.

At the Board Meeting, the Board allowed several individuals a chance to discuss this issue as well as hearing several emails that were received from Old 320 members. After this discussion, the board voted to not make this change at this time. As you can see, only 59% of the Old 320 Members actually voted.

Well another H-E-B Georgetown cook-off is now behind us,we had humidity & clouds and a few sprinkles but no real rain, H-E-B is once again already planning for NEXT year so marks it down now,I want to Thank my head judge John Caffey, My tally crew, Billy Doss,Donna Conrad,Steve Ashman & John Caffey. My table monitor Debbie Ashman,and my table runner Neal Doss. And of course all of the cooks who came out and made it possible. And once again Donna Conrad who got it all started.H-E-B Georgetown does A LOT for CASI and they were very pleased and went out of their way to help us with this cook-off so next time your in area of the H-E-B Georgetown off of I-35 & Univeristy stop in ask for E.T. Ferris and tell him Thank you from a CASI cook. Now onto the results.

Saturday (July 3rd) is the Cowboy CCO and the trophy is a bronze cowboy hat. Sunday (July 4th) is the Mustang CCO and the trophy is a running mustang. July 4th weekend this year is the Marathon homecoming weekend and there should be a great crowd in town. There is another big dance on Saturday night out at the "Post" and everyone is welcome. See the Trails or the CASI website for more details in the "Upcomings" listings.

Fourth of July is Sunday, which means a 3-day weekend for many folks, and there are lots of cookoffs scheduled. Therefore, I am sending out a challenge. If you attend any one of the cookoffs, please take pictures of the cooks and/or booths all decked out in patriotic paraphernalia! Your pictures can be of cooks having fun, cooking, or doing show; be creative. If you see anyone with the charities helping with the cookoff either by selling raffle tickets, helping in registration or in the judging area take pictures of them as well. Let everyone see that the charities are involved. I would like to have a lot of Red, White and Blue in the August Trails!! And don’t forget the articles too! Write a short paragraph or two about how much fun everyone had. Let’s see what you can do.
